The civic body data said there were two deaths in the city during these 20 months, both children below six years. One death was reported from Mogappair and another from Maduravoyal. However, the data does not include the death of a three-year-old girl in Alandur, who succumbed to the fever in July. “All the deceased children had comorbid conditions,” the official said.

The Corporation penalised 449 habitual offenders who did not comply with the mosquito control measures.

“A penalty of Rs 89 lakhs have been collected as fine from those who failed to control the breeding of Aedes mosquito larvae in their premises,” a civic body report said.
