The Kundrathur police raided the godown on information provided by the godown’s owner, Elusamy (54) from Madipakkam.

The police said that Elusamy had rented out the place to a businessman, Kumar (53) of Perambur, for Rs 20,000 per month. Since Kumar failed to pay the rent for the last three months and did not respond to Elusamy’s phone calls, the latter went to the godown on Sunday and broke open the doors. To his shock, he found a lorry loaded with red sanders in it and alerted the police.

The police handed over the red sanders to Sriperumbudur Forest officials along with the lorry. A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched for Kumar, who is at large.
