6 held for burglary, Rs 13L and 16.5 sovereigns recovered

Korattur police have solved July 13 burglary case in their jurisdiction and arrested six persons including the kin of the complainant. Rs 13 lakh in cash, 16.5 sovereigns, two iPhones and four two-wheelers were seized from the accused.

Among the six, P Kumaravel (23) of Besant Nagar is said to be the relative of the victim T Selvam (32) of Padi. Selvam who runs hydraulic repair services went to his hometown in Tirukovilur in June, keeping Rs 19 lakh and 18 sovereigns in the house.

On July 13, he received the call from the landlord saying that the door of his house was found lying open. Selvam rushed to Chennai and found that the burglars had burned the door to remove the latch and gained entry to escaped with valuables.

Based on his complaint, Korattur police registered a case and arrested six men. The other five accused were identified as B Dinesh Kumar (19), L Rahul David (20) of Besant Nagar, F Aravind (20) of Korattur, R Nithiyanandam (21) of Tiruvanmiyur and S Harishkumar (19) of Besant Nagar. All six were remanded in judicial custody.
