53-yr-old man murdered by friend in Kanchi

A 53-year-old man was hacked to death by his friend over a quarrel in Sunguvachatiram on Monday night.

The deceased, Boobalan of Kathur village near Kancheepuram, was a daily wage worker. Police said that Boobalan was friends with Ramesh (32) of the same locality, who is also a wage worker. On Monday night, when both of them were consuming liquor near the lakebed, a quarrel broke out between them.

Police said that Ramesh took a huge stone and hit Boobalan’s head. On hearing his cries, the residents rushed to the spot. However, Ramesh managed to flee the spot.

Boobalan was rushed to the Kancheepuram government hospital where the doctors declared him dead. On information, the Sunguvachatiram police registered a case and arrested Ramesh after a hunt was launched.
