5 arrested for attacking Good Samaritan

The victim, Dinakaran, a resident of Thoppu Street in Chitrambakkam village, was walking past his neighbourhood when he noticed the accused Manikandan alias Kuruvi Mani beating up a man.

TIRUVALLUR: The police arrested 5 persons who allegedly assaulted a Good Samaritan for trying to break up a scuffle in Tiruvallur on Saturday. The victim, Dinakaran, a resident of Thoppu Street in Chitrambakkam village, was walking past his neighbourhood when he noticed the accused Manikandan alias Kuruvi Mani beating up a man.

Dinakaran intervened and requested Mani to stop hitting him. “Infuriated by this, Mani brought four of his associates to the scene and beat up Dinakaran. He also threatened to stab him with a knife and threw a brick at his head,” police said.

Dinakaran suffered a head injury and had to seek treatment from the Tiruvallur Government Hospital.

Following this, the Tiruvallur police registered a case and arrested Mani and his associates and remanded them to judicial custody.
