48-year-old man sets himself ablaze in front of Stalin's residence

A 48-year-old man attempted self-immolation in front of Chief Minister MK Stalin’s residence on Monday allegedly dejected over having been denied a seat in the local body polls.

The man identified as A Vetrimaran of Zamin Devarkulam near Kovilpatti in Thoothukudi district has been admitted in Kilpauk Medical College Hospital with 40 per cent burns. He is the president of Tamil Nadu Parayar Peravai and wanted to contest for the president post. His application was reportedly rejected. 

Vetrimaran reached CIT colony around 9.30 am and suddenly doused himself with thinner and set himself ablaze. 

Shocked police personnel put off the fire and rushed him to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in an ambulance. Further investigation is on.
