487 stranded Indians return by special flights

As many as 487 Indians stranded in Kuwait, Bahrain and Seychelles returned to Chennai since Saturday night by special flights.

While 158 employees of a private firm in Kuwait (136 men and 22 women) reached Chennai by a special flight organised by the employer, 107 of them were sent to different hotels for mandatory quarantine. Since 43 of them were from Andhra Pradesh and eight from Puducherry, they were sent to their respective towns by special buses.

Similarly, 172 passengers, 34 of them women, reached Chennai from Bahrain. After the customary checks, 162 of them were sent to the free accommodation in Melakottaiyur as per their request.

In another flight that reached Chennai on Sunday morning, 157 passengers, including 18 women, arrived from Seychelles.

Meanwhile, six domestic flights were cancelled on Sunday as there were no passengers, while others flights were operated with fewer passengers. Only 2,900 passengers had booked tickets in 27 flights on Sunday and only 27 flights reached Chennai from other parts of the country.
