46.6 kg Ganja seized last week; 14 arrested

CHENNAI: As part of their ‘Drive against Drugs’ programme, Chennai police have intensified the action against drug peddlers since the beginning of this year.

Last week, from September 23 to September 29, City police have seized 46.6 kg of ganja in eight cases across the city.

Fourteen persons were arrested. Of the total haul last week, major seizure was made by the Thoraipakkam police who seized 20.5 kg of ganja from two persons near Mettukuppam on September 27. Two persons - Jasinnudin (27) of Vadapalani and Shaiful Islam (35) of Tripura were arrested by the police.

Police also freezed the bank accounts of 30 ganja peddlers in the last week.
