While the four-member gang, Rajesh, Anand Raj, Bab and Muruga, were secured late on Saturday night after they escaped from the police station on the pretext of using the restroom, the disciplinary action has been initiated against the six policemen for being careless while handling the accused. The four were remanded in judicial custody.

The accused were arrested along with a juvenile for stealing aluminium dyes from a manufacturing unit in the Industrial Estate. While the juvenile was sent to an observation home on Friday, the other four were kept in the station to be produced before the magistrate on Saturday.
