35-yr-old attacked with machete in T Nagar, accused at large

A 35-year-old man was chased and attacked on Ranganathan Street in T Nagar on Friday night. The Mambalam police have launched a hunt for the suspect, Vicky of Kannamapet.

Both the victim, Vijay of Kundrathur, and the accused are history-sheeters. The duo met at Mambalam railway station on Friday night to resolve their differences. As it ended in an argument, Vicky who had hidden a machete at the foot overbridge attacked Vijay with it. Vijay tried to run away from the spot, but Vicky chased him on Ranganathan street and struck blows on his head and hand before fleeing the spot, said the police. As the incident happened after 10 pm, the street was not crowded. On information, the Mambalam police rushed to the spot. Vijay was admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for treatment. A case has been registered and a hunt has been launched for Vicky who is at large.
