30-yr-old attacked, robbed of chain near Guduvanchery

Police are searching for a group of men who attacked a 30-year-old man and snatched his 2-sovereign chain near Guduvanchery on Friday.

The victim was identified as Elakiyaselvan, a resident of Vallanchery near Guduvanchery who owns a restaurant in Perungalathur.

 Around 9 pm, when he was on the Guduvanchery-Vallanchery road in his four-wheeler, a group of men intercepted the vehicle. Police said all of them carried sickles and knives and started to attack the vehicle. They opened the door and snatched the 2-sovereign gold chain from him. The gang attacked him with knives. Onlookers gathered at the spot and tried to catch the robbers, but they escaped with the chain. Elakiyaselvan was taken to a hospital in the locality for treatment. The Maraimalai Nagar police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
