CHENNAI: The police arrested three youths on attempt to murder charges after they attacked a delivery executive with a knife in Velachery on Sunday night over a previous enmity. The attackers posted on social media about the attack.

The victim, Parthiban, a resident of Velachery, works with a quick commerce company. The police said he was walking along AL Mudali Street in Velachery when two men on a bike intercepted him and attacked him with knives and swords and fled the scene.

Parthiban sustained deep injuries on his scalp, forehead, both wrists, and abdomen. Neighbours rushed to his aid, moved him to a hospital and alerted the police.

Based on CCTV footage collected from the surrounding areas, the Velachery police traced and arrested three suspects identified as Nandha, Vishnu, and Sundar. The police said the trio attacked Parthiban to settle scores over an earlier quarrel during Deepavali celebrations last year.
