2 yr old drowns in the water tank in the house in Urapakkam

The deceased identified as Shalini of Iyanchery in Urapakkam. Police said the child's parents Sathyaraj and Manimala work in a private firm and the couple has three children.

CHENNAI: A 2-year-old girl drowned in the water tank in the house in Urapakkam on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Shalini of Iyanchery in Urapakkam. Police said the child's parents Sathyaraj and Manimala work in a private firm and the couple has three children.

On Wednesday afternoon Manimala was sleeping inside the house while the children were playing in the Verandah.

Around 1 pm Manimala who woke up noticed Shalini was missing and after searching for a while she noticed Shalini was floating in the water tank which was built for storing drinking water outside the house. Soon she rushed Shalini to a private hospital in the locality but there she was declared brought dead.

On information, the Guduvanchery police sent the body for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu GH and the police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
