CHENNAI: Two youths were arrested by the police for overspeeding and performing stunts with their motorbikes on city roads on Sunday. The accused youth further threatened a passerby who questioned them for their reckless driving, endangering the public.

On Sunday, around 11 am, the two youths engaged in rash driving on Ramasamy Street and Ponnambalam Street within the KK Nagar police station limits. A passerby, P Murugan (47), intercepted the youths and questioned them for their acts, after which they hurled abuses at him, threatened him and fled the scene.

Based on Murugan's complaint, KK Nagar police registered a case and launched a search for the suspects. With the help of CCTV footage, the police zeroed in on the suspects, and after a search, arrested Akash (21) and Deepak (20), both from KK Nagar. The duo were produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
