2 killed, three injured in ECR car mishap

Two persons were killed and three others injured after two cars were involved in a head on collision on the East Coast Road at Mahabalipuram early on Sunday, police said.

According to them, Sizer T Joker (52) and his son Artim Joker (26) from Manali were on their way to Puducherry along the ECR at around 8 am, had reached Mahabalipuram and were passing by the town when their vehicle was involved in a head on collision with another car that was speeding in the opposite direction. “Both the vehicles were involved in a head on collision and in the impact, the car in which Sizer and Artim were travelling was crushed and thrown out of the road,” a police official said. While Sizer died on the spot, Artim who had sustained grievous injuries was rushed to the nearest hospital where he was declared dead. The three persons who were travelling in the other car had also sustained injuries and were rushed to a private hospital in Kelambakkam where they are undergoing treatment. The Mahabalipuram police have registered a case and are investigating.
