160 medical students return from Philippines

As many as 160 medical college students returned from the Philippines on a special flight on Friday morning. The flight also had three Philippines citizens including a child who came for a liver transplant surgery at a private hospital in Chennai and whose ticket costs were waived by the SpiceJet.

Airport sources said all the passengers had done the COVID-19 test 96 hours prior to boarding their flight and hence upon submitting their medical certificate all of them were allowed to go home directly from the airport. They will be monitored by the Health staff at their homes. The three Philippines citizens who arrived for surgery travelled to a private hospital in Chennai for liver surgery of a child. Meanwhile, on Thursday midnight, as many as 262 Indians arrived from the US and Kuwait on two special flights.
