12 sewage pumping stations in Chennai will not function for 2 days

CHENNAI: As the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metrowater) has decided to take up pipe laying works, 12 sewage pumping stations in north Chennai will not function on Monday.

A Metrowater press release said that works to lay pipe to link Perambur sewage pumping station with Erkenchery sewage pumping station on Monday. Due to the works, pumping stations in Erkenchery, MKB Nagar, Melpattadai, Vyasarpadi Lake Area, Vyasarpadi, Damodharan Nagar, Perambur, Ekanchipuram, Jawahar Nagar, Sembium, Dimmasamy Dargah and Ayanavaram in Thiru Vi Ka Nagar and Tondiarpet and Anna Nagar zones will not function between 12 noon on Monday to 6 pm on Tuesday.

The water manager has requested the residents to contact concerned area engineers if sewage overflow occurs during the works. The contact numbers of area engineers are: 8144930904 (Tondiarpet), 8144930906 (Thiru Vi Ka Nagar) and 8144930908 (Anna Nagar).
