12 injured after govt bus crashes into lorry on Tiruchy-Chennai NH

The accident caused a traffic disruption on the NH for about one hour

CHENNAI: As many as 12 people, including a government bus driver and conductor, were injured in a collision between a state-run bus and a trailer lorry on the Tiruchy-Chennai national highway Kallapiranpuram, close to Madurantakam, in Chengalpattu early Friday morning.

A government bus over-speeding from Vriddhachalam to Kilambakkam with approximately 40 passengers on board crashed into the rear of a trailer lorry, after the trailer carrying large iron rods suddenly applied its brakes.

The impact left the bus driver, conductor, and around 10 passengers injured. Fellow motorists at the scene began rescue operations, and Madurantakam police rushed to the site shortly after.

All 12 injured were rescued and transported via 108 ambulances to Chengalpattu GH for treatment.
