10 women saved from flesh trade racket, 4 held

City police have arrested four persons including a woman for running flesh trade in Adyar and Virugambakkam and rescued 10 women from their custody.

The anti-vice squad of the Central Crime Branch on Saturday raided a massage parlour at SBI Colony in Adyar based on a tip-off and confirmed that the parlour was used for flesh trade. S Velmurugan (32) of Virudhunagar district who ran the parlour was arrested and four women were rescued from his custody. Two phones were seized from Velmurugan.

Similarly, another team of the squad raided a house in Gandhi Nagar in Adyar and arrested M Venkatesan (27) of Ponneri for running flesh trade. Two women were rescued from him and a mobile phone was also seized.

Meanwhile, Virugambakkam police arrested two persons including a woman for running a flesh running flesh trade in Saligramam and rescued four women from them. The accused K Srinivasan (49) of Vadapalani and I Vasira Banu (53) of Saligramam were arrested and four mobile phones and Rs 21K in cash seized.

All the 10 women were sent to the rehabilitation home, while the accused were remanded in judicial custody.
