Blockchain tech must be leveraged in agri biz: NABARD

There is an urgent need to bridge the gap between agriculture research and the farmers, stressed GR Chintala, Chairman, NABARD.

At an event organised by National Agro Foundation (NAF) in Chennai, he said Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) such as block chain technologies could be effectively used not only to improve the quality of agri produce but also to promote export. He also emphasised that agencies like NAF with a nationalistic outlook should play key roles in bridging the research – extension gap and see to that the farmer gets benefited with adequate information, linkages and support as a package in toto.

Earlier, a presentation on KANCHI (Kisan Advancement through CasHless Innovation), an innovative digital platform for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) developed by NAF was made to the Chairman, NABARD.

SS Rajsekar, Managing Trustee, NAF said it will continue to serve the farming community for addressing emerging challenges faced by the farmers.
