Redmi has pitched this device for heavy duty gamers and power users who are looking for a smartphone in the Rs 30-40K price band. Does the Redmi Turbo 5 walk the talk?

If you experience déjà vu, it’s probably because this device looks very similar to the POCO X8 Pro. It’s not a bad thing though. We dig the matte finish on the glass back. The flat frame and rounded edges combine with an aerospace-grade metal middle frame to add to the premium vibe. The device feels lighter than its 204 gm heft despite the massive 7540 mAh silicon-carbon battery under the hood. The battery performance impressed us in the tests. We think that moderate users might even be able to push this to close to two days. Redmi sweetens the deal with an in-box 100W HyperCharge fast charger.

One of the cool touches are the Pixel Matrix Camera Rings that come with multi-colour LED lights. Aside from making a statement, these rings can be customised for notifications and calls. The rear camera combines a 50MP primary lens (with optical image stabilisation and a f/1.5 aperture) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. Images are sharp in most lighting conditions when you shoot with the primary lens; images and videos on the ultra-wide lens doesn’t quite measure up to the primary lens. There’s also a 20MP front cam in the mix. The Redmi Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch (2756 x 1268 pixels) 12-bit AMOLED display (1.5K resolution) with a 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with HDR10+, Dolby Vision and wet touch support. Colours are punchy; the display peaks at 3500 nits.
