CHENNAI: It’s probably the last big smartphone drop for 2025; the OnePlus 15R finally kept it’s date. OnePlus has decided to alter its R series playbook. From flagship killer to value flagship, we’ve heard different terms used for the R Series, that’s essentially a throwback to the OnePlus flagships of the 2010s that delivered value for money and satisfied your need for speed. The OnePlus 15R may be from that DNA but there are some interesting tweaks.

It all starts with the design. This one has premium stamped all over it. We dig the smooth matte textures and the refined metal frame. It’s the Mint Breeze colourway that has our attention with its subtle shimmer. The device is also available in Electric Violet and Charcoal Black. The device is geared for the elements and your adventures with multiple IP ratings for dust and water resistance.

Speed is a given with OnePlus. The 15R becomes one of the first smartphones to be powered by the all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon Gen 5 chipset that gives this device serious wings. It blazed through our tests and consistently clocked well above 9000 in our Geekbench (multi-core tests). You get a choice of 12GB/256GB or 12GB/512GB storage variants that should both please heavy duty users. Gamers will also appreciate the 165Hz refresh rate display that gives the 15R an edge in this price segment. The 6.83-inch FHD+ display (2800 x 1272 pixels / 450 PPI) is one of our favourite features. This one’s ready for your gaming and binge-watch marathons.

One of the big changes we’ve seen in 2025 is battery tech. The 15R features a humungous 7400 mAh battery under the hood that makes it a two-day battery phone for most average users. OnePlus has bundled a 80W SUPERVOOC charger in the box that powers this device is quick time. There’s no wireless charging though. The dual rear cam (50MP primary lens + 8MP ultra-wide lens) shoots sharp images and videos in optimal light. We were also impressed with our test results with the 32MP selfie shooter. The OnePlus 15R chooses performance as it’s calling card and nails it with a smooth display, ultra quick performance and a monster battery (Rs 47,999 onwards)
