CHENNAI: Cinephiles and actor-politician Vijay's fans are quite disappointed due to the ongoing censorship issue of his farewell film, Jana Nayagan. The film, which was originally planned to be released on January 9, has been postponed.

As an unexpected treat for his fans, his blockbuster film, Theri, is re-releasing in theatres on January 15, on the occasion of Pongal. The film originally hit the screens in 2016, and now, after a decade, fans are going to relive the madness again.

Helmed by Atlee and his first collaboration with Vijay, the film featured Samantha as the leading lady. The star cast included Amy Jackson, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Nainika, Mahendran, Prabhu, Mottai Rajendran and many others, in key roles. GV Prakash Kumar composed the songs, which are still in the audience's playlists.

Kalaippuli S Thanu produced Theri, under the banner V Creations. The film was recently remade in Hindi. Titled Baby John, it starred Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi.

After Theri, Atlee and Vijay went on to collaborate for Mersal and Bigil.
