CHENNAI: The re-release of Vijay’s Theri on Pongal was postponed by the makers after the request of producers' new films in the Pongal race. Now, the producer of the Atlee-directorial, Kalaippuli S Thanu, announced that the film will hit the screens on January 23. Much to the delight of the fans, the re-release of Ajith Kumar’s Mankatha is also scheduled for the same date, marking the last clash between Vijay and Ajith’s films.

Theri featured Samantha as the leading lady. The star cast included Amy Jackson, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Nainika, Mahendran, Prabhu, Mottai Rajendran and many others, in key roles. GV Prakash Kumar composed the songs, which are still in the audience's playlists.

Meanwhile, Mankatha, a Venkat Prabhu directorial, is a heist thriller and is considered to be one of the best works of Ajith.

The cast ensemble includes Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Rai Lakshmi, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Ashwin Kakumanu, Vaibhav, Premji, Mahat Raghavendra, Jayaprakash, Aravind Akash, and Subbu Panchu.
