RRR's Oscars journey begins, nominations filed in 14 categories

The makers have also submitted Naatu Naatu for Best Original Song and MM Keeravani's name was also considered for Best Original Score.

CHENNAI: The makers of RRR have submitted their nominations under numerous categories in the ‘For your consideration’ campaign in Oscars 2023 on Thursday. The categories of awards include Best Motion Picture, Best Director - SS Rajamouli, Best Actor – Jr NTR and Ram Charan, Best Supporting Actor – Ajay Devgn, and Best Supporting Actress – Alia Bhatt.

The makers have also submitted Naatu Naatu for Best Original Song and MM Keeravani's name was also considered for Best Original Score.

In an official statement on Twitter, “We are honoured that RRR’s overwhelming success represented Indian Cinema on the global stage by creating milestones at the worldwide box office and uniting film buffs across the world by transcending linguistic & cultural barriers."

“We’re grateful to each & everyone who loved our film and cheered us over the past few months. You made this journey possible. We applied to The Academy for Oscars consideration in the general category. We wish our RRR family the best and thank them from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Here’s to continuing to win hearts and entertain audiences worldwide," the statement added.

RRR is a 2022 epic action drama film directed by SS Rajamouli, who wrote the film with V Vijayendra Prasad. The film stars NT Rama Rao Jr., Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. It centres on two real-life Indian revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Rama Rao), and their fight against the British Raj.
