Release of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan cancelled amid censor uncertainty

CHENNAI: With uncertainty continuing over its release following delays in censor board certification, distributors of actor Vijay’s film Jana Nayagan in North America, Canada and Malaysia on Wednesday announced that the scheduled release on January 9 had been cancelled.

The distributors took to X to inform audiences that the film would not be released as planned. In Chennai and several other cities across the country, the “Book Tickets” option for the film was also removed from BookMyShow following fresh developments in the ongoing certification process.

The film, which was expected to have a grand theatrical release on January 9, has now been put on hold, with the makers yet to announce a revised release date.
