“We are shooting the film in all five languages and will have artistes from across India,” the director of the film Vivek told DT Next. The film will be produced by Gayatri Suresh in her maiden production venture for her banner Filminat Entertainment.

Vivek revealed that the film was an extension of his own book titled Yaanai Kavuni (Elephant Gate, a neighbourhood in North Chennai). The book is the prelude and I haven’t published it yet. If it gets published before the film does, Quotation Gang will be a direct sequel to it. In fact, I wanted to make Yaanai Kavuni into a film. It had so much violence in it that no actor was willing to be a part of it. Quotation Gang’s title is inspired by the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. There are references to these gangsters, who are from Kerala,” the director opened up. Talking about the cast of the film he said, “Govinda has listened to the script and he is excited to play a character. We have also approached Jackie Shroff for a role. As of now, the film is being planned to go on floors in January and we will shoot in parts of Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Mumbai among others.”
