Prabhu, Vijay Varma join hands with Franklin Jacob for dark comedy thriller

CHENNAI: Writer, director Franklin Jacob’s next film, starring Prabhu and  Vijay Varma in the lead, was launched with a pooja ceremony in Chennai.

Produced jointly by Rahul of Romeo Pictures and Gokul Srinivasan of Aviate Pictures, the yet-to-be-titled film is described as a thriller-comedy rooted in dark humour, with the makers promising a unique storyline.

Directors Pa Ranjith and Arun Matheswaran, along with several members of the film fraternity, attended the launch and extended their wishes to the team.

Prabhu, who said he was impressed by Franklin’s narration, said, "He narrated a wonderful story to me. I am very happy to have got the opportunity to be part of such a different film.”

The veteran actor also praised the team of technicians and said he was particularly happy to see filmmakers such as Ranjith and Arun Matheswaran supporting a new generation of filmmakers.

Speaking about casting Prabhu, Franklin said, "Considering the unique style of acting that he has established in Tamil cinema, I wanted to present him in a completely different approach that audiences have not seen before.”He added that Prabhu’s immediate appreciation of the story and willingness to come on board gave him tremendous confidence.

Vijay Varma, meanwhile, said he was happy to be part of the project and revealed that the film had been in development for several years.

Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music,The first schedule of the film is set to begin in Chennai at the end of this month. The title and further details are expected to be announced soon.
