“Ajay Devgn has presented the series. He is someone who has an eye for good scripts and after watching Lal Bazaar he said he would present it himself. Moreover, it has released in five languages and the content has struck a chord with the audience across the nation,” she told DT Next. The story revolves around Lalbazar one of the hotspots in Kolkata. Ranjini said, “The best about the series is that it doesn’t portray Kolkata in the same light as films and series typically do. The city is much more than the Howrah bridge and it has a different tone to it altogether. I’m glad that this series has brought it out.” Having graduated out of FTII Pune, the actress of Simmba and Article 15 fame, ventured into digital platform even before its prominence. “That’s the best thing about learning the art in a film school. You know what the future is and the impact of the roles that are written irrespective of the screen time. I moved to Mumbai and initially I wasn’t flooded with offers in Bollywood. Hence, I took up TV series whenever they were offered to me and then digital medium happened. I’m happy when I look back at my journey. Now that I have my series released in south languages, I would look forward to working in south films too,” Ronjini concluded.
