Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 was said to be temporarily shelved and the actor too got busy with election campaigns for his party Makkal Needhi Maiyyam. Sources in tinseltown said that the shooting of Shankar’s Indian 2 will resume post elections. The twist in the tale is that Kamal will start shooting not for Indian 2 but Thevar Magan 2. A source in the know of things told DT Next, “The film will be produced by Dr R Mahendran, the vice-president of Makkal Needhi Maiyyam under his banner Turmeric Productions and will be co-produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International. The team has already scouted for locations around Pollachi and the movie is all set to go on floors in June.” Earlier, Kamal had said that the sequel to Thevar Magan will talk about caste discrimination and other social issues. Written by Kamal Haasan and directed by Malayalam filmmaker Bharathan, Thevar Magan won five National awards and was selected as India’s official entry to the Oscars. The film is known for its brilliant performances by veteran actor Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Nassar and Revathi, and music by Ilaiyaraja.

Shankar’s next

We hear that Shankar too has moved on from Indian 2 and started with pre-production work of his next that is likely to have Dhruv Vikram and Vijay’s son Sanjay in the lead. “While Dhruv Vikram is already on board for the film, Sanjay’s presence in the film is yet to be confirmed as per his dad’s advice. However, Vijay has already signed three films which means that he is planning to introduce his son as an actor anytime soon,” the source confirmed.
