CHENNAI: In August, it was announced that actor Jiiva will be collaborating with director Rajesh M and music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja for his next film after 16 years. On Sunday, marking the actor’s birthday, it was revealed that the upcoming flick, which is Jiiva’s 47th film, is titled Jolliya Iruntha Oruthan (JIO).

The iconic trio is known for their work in Siva Manasula Sakthi (SMS), a romantic comedy that remains timeless and one of the favourite films for audiences as well as film enthusiasts. It also marked the debut directorial of Rajesh.

Backed by Malik Streams Corporation, an announcement video was also unveiled. A fun-filled video, it was revealed that this film is not Siva Manasula Sakthi 2, but aligns with the vibe of the film, coming under the SMS universe. We can see Rajesh and Jiiva pulling Yuvan’s leg by saying that for others, C stands for cat, but in the music composer’s family, it is copyrights, hinting at Ilaiyaraaja’s copyright issues.

Billed to be a refreshing entertainer that blends love, heartbreak, and humour, JIO features cinematography by M Sukumar and Ashish Joseph taking care of the cuts. The shooting is currently underway.

Apart from this, Jiiva essayed special roles in other Rajesh’s films, including Arya’s Boss Engira Bhaskaran and GV Prakash Kumar-starrer Kadavul Irukkan Kumaru.
