CHENNAI: After 33 long years, Superstar Rajinikanth and Bollywood giant Amitabh Bachchan are coming together for another film. Rajini on Wednesday shared a picture of him and Big B from the sets of Thalaivar 170.

The first schedule of Thalaivar 170, directed by TJ Gnanavel, went on floors earlier this month, and the second schedule of the film is now rolling in Mumbai where crucial portions between Bachchan and Rajinikanth are being filmed.

Sharing the photo of him with Bachchan, Rajinikanth said in his social media post: “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s “Thalaivar 170” directed by TJ Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!” (sic).

The duo last paired in the 1991 action film Hum in which Rajini played an upright cop and the younger brother of Bachchan, a man with a violent past.

Besides Rajin and Bachchan, leading stars from various languages, including Rana Daggubati, Fahadh Faasil, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier and Dushara Vijayan, play crucial roles in the film. It is produced by Lyca Productions’ Subaskaran, and has music by Anirudh Ravichander.

Rajinikanth plays a police officer in the film, which is said to be inspired by real-life incidents that took place in forests of Andhra Pradesh.
