Gollapudi Srinivas Award for Uri and Kumbalangi Nights directors

Aditya Dhar, known for directing the film Uri: The Surgical Strike, and Madhu C Narayanan, who helmed Kumbalangi Nights, were recently bestowed with the prestigious Gollapudi Srinivas National Award for the year 2019.

Gollapudi Srinivas Award is a national-level award given to a first-time director in Indian Cinema every year. This is the first time that the award has been jointly won by two directors.

Uri: The Surgical Strike is a 2019 Hindi military action film, produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film stars Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles. The plot is a dramatised account of the retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. Kumbalangi Nights is a Malayalam family drama film, written by Syam Pushkaran and produced by Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, Dileesh Pothan, and Syam Pushkaran. The film stars Shane Nigam, Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Anna Ben, and Mathew Thomas.
