Galtha deals with environmental issues

Post the success of Vijay Sethupathi’s production venture Merku Thodarchi Malai, the lead actor of the film, Antony, is all set for the release of his next film titled Galtha. Directed by Hari Uthra of Padithavudan Kizhuthu Vidavum fame, the film talks about medical wastes and its effects on people.

Talking about the film to DT Next, the director of the film, says, “Galtha is about how medical wastes and other toxic substances gets dumped in villages near Tamil Nadu border. We also made an intensive research on how politicians here are backing them without raising questions.” Elaborating about the title, he says, “Galtha is a local slang, which refers to cheating. We felt that it’s an apt title for the film and the entire crew liked it as well.”


Major portions of the film were shot in Tanjore, Kumbakonam and Mannargudi. “Sivanishanth, a newcomer is playing one of the leads in the film. His role will bring in a lot of value addition to the storyline. Though it is a serious subject, which is based real incidents, we have included a few elements that will cater to a wide range of audience. We are planning to release it soon.” he adds. It is also worth noting that Veteran composer Deva has sung an introduction song in the film.
