The first look of the film that was unveiled by makers recently became an instant hit on social media.

Krishna Marimuthu, the director of the film told DT Next, “Dharala Prabhu isn’t a frame-by-frame adaptation of Vicky Donor. Though it’s an official remake, we have only taken the crux of the story from the original and have tweaked it to cater to the audience.” The director said that he initially had qualms if the film will strike a chord with the audience here. “Bollywood audience opened up to such concepts way back in 2012. When I started working on the script, I changed it in a way that it resonates with our audience. Moreover, people in Tamil Nadu are now more open about different themes. Infertility is a universal concept and it will work.” Krishna also heaped praises on Harish Kalyan and said, “At no point in time, will you feel that he has the same body language as that Ayushmann Khurrana had. Harish has delivered a different performance and it will be a game-changer in his career,” he concluded.
