Bharathiraja forays into digital space with his dream project

Veteran director Bharathiraja had always been vocal about his interest in making a film on Kutraparambarai, a popular Tamil novel written by Vela Ramamoorthy.

A couple of years ago, the director, too announced he had already begun shooting for the film in a small village near Usulampatti, but the project got dropped due to various issues. Now, the director has announced that he is all set to foray into digital space and Kutraparambarai will be made as a web series. Interestingly, the series will be produced by Suresh Kamatchi under his banner V House Productions. Sources say that the shoot of the web series will begin in January 2020, and it will have 10 episodes, each with a run time of an hour.


The story revolves around a powerful South Indian community, which was identified as a ‘criminal tribe’ by the British colonial government, who protested against the discrimination.
