CHENNAI: Actor Ajith Kumar and director Venkat Prabhu's 2011 blockbuster Mankatha, was re-released in theatres on the January 23. Fans have been celebrating the re-release of Mankatha with great enthusiasm.
According to a Maalaimalar report, through the re-release, the film has so far collected Rs 16 crore in Tamil Nadu alone. As of its fifth day at the box office, the film has grossed Rs 17.5 crore. With this, Mankatha has broken all previous records for opening collections among re-released films.
Mankatha has an ensemble cast of Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Raai Laxmi, and Premgi Amaren with music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film centres around Ajith's character Vinayak Mahadev, one of the most cherished characters in Tamil cinema. A suspended cop, he goes on to plan a cricket betting heist with a group of small-time criminals.
