Talking about it, Nitin told DT Next, “Lockup was originally made for a theatrical release. Director SG Charles had written a crime thriller which isn’t clichéd by any means. It had several twists to the tale. But the situation is such that we have waited for a long time for theatres to reopen. After a point, we decided that we will release it on Zee5 as it has the content that an OTT audience looks forward to watching as well.” Talking about the storyline, he said, “The story is about two bad cops. Who is the best among the worst—Venkat Prabhu or Vaibhav?
The narrative keeps building up as it proceeds towards the climax. I leave it for you to judge.” When asked if small-time filmmakers and producers will benefit from OTT platforms in the future, he replied, “Theatres any day are the ultimate decider for movies. During lockdown, OTT has lent support to the producer and it would take some time for us to adapt to it,” he concluded.
