CHENNAI: It has been a good day for Indian athletes on Day two of the Paris Olympics 2024 with ace shooter Manu Bhaker opening the country's account with a bronze in women's 10m air pistol. She also became the first woman shooter to win a medal in shooting.
Shuttler PV Sindhu marked her first win in the Paris outing followed by rower Balraj Panwar entering the quarterfinals of the men's single sculls. On the other hand, Ramita Jindal advanced to the final of the women's individual 10m Air Rifle event.
Meanwhile, paddler Sreeja Akula and Manika Batra won their opening games in round of 64 of women's table tennis singles. However, India's flag bearer Sharath Kamal lost to Deni Kozul in men's table tennis singles.
Additionally, Indian tennis star Sumit Nagal after giving a tough fight against Corentin Moutet lost in the final set.

The final has two stages - first stage will consist of two series (5 shots each) The shooters are to complete all shots within a timing of 250 seconds. This will be followed in the second stage.
The second stage will have a total of 14 shots, each fired at a command (time limit of 50 seconds per shot) - Every two shots the lowest-ranked shooter will be eliminated.
Manu Bhaker displayed a stunning performance in the qualification round. In the first two series, Manu ended with 97 points. In the third series, the 22-year-old bagged 98 points. In the final three series, she sealed 96 points to finish in third place with a total of 580-27x.

The last time India won medals at the Olympics was in 2012 London edition when rapid-fire pistol shooter Vijay Kumar and 10m air rifle marksman Gagan Narang clinched bronze.
