CHENNAI: In the recent edition of the radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi urged citizens to participate in the annual ‘Poshan Maah’ or Nutrition Month. Since 2018, September is celebrated as Nutrition Month.

Later, an opinion piece titled “Good food will reduce the burden of malnutrition, not bhajans” was published in a portal. Alt News found the PM was talking about ways local administrations are fighting malnutrition among which bhajan-kirtan was a tool to distribute information on malnutrition. This information was misconstrued leading to the confusion.
