Youth on run after killing 17-yr-old held

The rural police on Monday arrested a 21-year-old youth for murdering a 17-year-old girl after she failed to reciprocate his love.

The accused C Ratheesh, a mechanic, was in love with a girl, a resident of Arumuga Goundanur, studying first year B Com at a private college in Perur. The victim’s father is a milk vendor.

The girl’s parents, who came to know of this, strongly advised her not to entertain any conversation with Ratheesh. She stopped talking to him since March despite him making several attempts to reach her over the phone.

On Friday around 8.30 pm, Ratheesh came to the girl’s house and asked her to come out of the house. “She then came out with her father. After an argument, the accused took out a knife and stabbed the girl on the chest and abdomen. The accused also attacked her father, when he came to her rescue, causing injuries on his hands,” police said.

Both the father and the girl were admitted to CMCH. The girl succumbed to injuries on Saturday.

The Perur police registered a case of murder and under POCSO Act and arrested Ratheesh from a hideout on Monday.
