CHENNAI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Friday constituted a special committee to draft the party’s election manifesto for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The 12-member committee has been tasked with framing a comprehensive roadmap that reflects the aspirations of diverse social groups and responds to what the party describes as long-standing governance gaps in the State.

According to the statement issued by Vijay, the committee will be headed by senior party functionaries and professionals drawn from varied backgrounds, including administration, law, technology, economics and public policy.

K G Arunraj, JCD Prabhakar, A Rajmohan, TSK Mayuri and A Sambathkumar are among those appointed, along with seven other members, to steer the drafting exercise.

Party sources said the panel has been instructed to hold wide-ranging consultations with grassroots cadres, civil society groups and subject-matter experts before finalising the manifesto.

The emphasis, they added, would be on people-centric governance, social justice, economic opportunity and transparent administration.

The committee is expected to submit its draft recommendations to Vijay in the coming months, paving the way for the formal unveiling of TVK’s first full-fledged Assembly election manifesto.
