CHENNAI: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) moved a petition before the Madras High Court to stall the permission given to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to conduct a procession across the State on October 2.

VCK president Thol Thirumavalavam filed the petitions for a direction to recall the common order passed by the single judge of Madras HC on September 22 directing the respondents to grant permission to hold processions and public meetings by RSS.

Thirumavalavan also prayed for an injunction to restrain the government from granting permission to conduct the procession on October 2.

In his affidavit, the Chidambaram MP said that the reason for conducting the processions across the state by RSS is contrary to several things. He further stated the single judge passed the order without considering the past antecedents of RSS.

“The nexus between the Ideology of Dr. Ambedkar and the Vijayadasami has to be taken into account before granting such permission to hold a procession and public meeting. When the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi shot dead by the RSS cadre Godse by saying the reason that Gandhi betrayed his Hindu religion and culture by supporting Muslims at the expense of Hindus and the murder of Gandhiji was celebrated by the RSS, it is very unfair for the organisation of RSS to seek permission to hold the procession and public meeting on the birth anniversary of Gandhi,” Thiruma said in his petition.

It is noted that RSS approached the HC for conducting the route marches in order to celebrate the 75th year of Independence, the birth centenary of BR Ambedkar and Vijaya Dasamy. HC granted the permission to conduct the procession by imposing several restrictions.
