COIMBATORE: PMK founder S Ramadoss on Monday said the upcoming 2026 assembly polls will deliver a ‘befitting reply’ to his son Anbumani, who is in loggerheads with him.

Speaking at the executive committee meeting in Salem, the PMK leader said it is evident from this meeting that almost 95 per cent of people are behind him, but not even five per cent of people are behind Anbumani.

“However, Anbumani convenes meetings by spending in lakhs and crores. This polls will deliver a befitting reply to him,” Ramadoss said, adding that at times he couldn’t sleep even after taking sleeping tablets, thinking of the humiliation meted out to him. He also turned emotional during his speech.

Further, Ramadoss said he will form a ‘victory’ alliance for the 2026 assembly polls with the overwhelming support of the people. “Over the last ten days, I have sought the opinion of every district secretary and president to decide on the alliance. Based on their opinion, a victory alliance will be formed. I firmly believe what I think will definitely happen. But time has not yet come ripe for that,” he said.

The special executive committee meeting in Salem passed a resolution declaring PMK founder S Ramadoss as the party’s president and authorised him to form alliances and choose candidates to contest the upcoming 2026 assembly polls. However, the Anbumani Ramadoss faction has claimed that the meeting was not the PMK’s general council or executive committee session and any resolutions passed will have no binding on the party.

Another resolution removed Dr Sowmiya Anbumani as the president of Pasumai Thayagam, the party’s environmental wing and replaced her with Ramadoss' daughter, Srigandhi Parasuraman. A total of 27 resolutions were passed in the meeting.
