Tiruchy: Accusing Chief Minister MK Stalin of prioritising dynastic politics over governance, BJP state unit president Nainar Nagenthran on Monday alleged that Stalin's main objective was to install his son, Udhayanidhi, as Chief Minister after the 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters after a public outreach programme at Ettarai village in Anthanallur Union of Tiruchy district, Nainar said Stalin had shown little concern for the people of Tamil Nadu over the past four-and-a-half years.
He claimed that the Chief Minister was focused on retaining a tight grip over the DMK alliance solely to ensure Udhayanidhi’s elevation, leaving the electorate to decide the government’s fate in 2026.
On the fertiliser shortage, Nainar said the Union government had extended all possible support to Tamil Nadu and blamed the State government for failing to ensure proper distribution.
He said the State should also take steps to supply quality seeds to improve farm yield.
Targeting Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, the BJP leader alleged that the DMK government had failed to fulfil its promise of constructing 1,000 check dams across the State.
“More than four years have passed, but not even a single check dam has been built,” he claimed.
Nainar said a government led by AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would construct adequate check dams after the 2026 polls to improve irrigation.
He also promised a perfume factory in the region and higher minimum support prices for paddy and banana crops.
