Twin toddlers hospitalised after mistaking rat poison paste for toothpaste in Krishnagiri

According to a Daily Thanthi report, the incident occurred at Om Sakthi Koil Street in Bargur. The children, identified as Tanvik (2) and Tashik (2), were playing at home on Tuesday evening while their mother Saranya was attending to household chores. The twins reportedly found a tube of rat poison paste kept on a television stand and consumed it, assuming it was toothpaste.

CHENNAI: Two-year-old twin boys were admitted to hospital in critical condition after allegedly consuming rat poison paste mistaking it for toothpaste at their home near Bargur in Krishnagiri district.

According to a Daily Thanthi report, the incident occurred at Om Sakthi Koil Street in Bargur. The children, identified as Tanvik (2) and Tashik (2), were playing at home on Tuesday evening while their mother Saranya was attending to household chores. The twins reportedly found a tube of rat poison paste kept on a television stand and consumed it, assuming it was toothpaste.

Saranya immediately rushed the children to a private hospital in Bargur after noticing the incident. As both children began vomiting continuously, they were later referred to Indira Gandhi Hospital in Bengaluru for advanced treatment, where they are currently undergoing intensive care.

The children’s father, Udhayakumar (42), is a daily wage labourer residing in the same locality. The couple also has a four-year-old son.

Bargur police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
