COIMBATORE: In an apparent response to actor-politician Vijay's attempt to take on the mantle of MGR, calling the ruling DMK an evil force, taking a leaf from the former Chief Minister's political strategy, AIADMK deputy general secretary KP Munusamy, on Sunday, said Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is not a pure force but an adulterated party, and those joining it are opportunists.

The senior AIADMK leader hit out at Vijay for claiming that his fledgling party was pure. “How can TVK be called a pure party? The TVK, which was launched with the support of fans, has lost distinctiveness after those from other parties joined it with an opportunistic mindset, looking for leadership posts,” he said, while addressing party cadre in Krishnagiri.

The AIADMK leader called TVK’s general secretary for election campaign management, Aadhav Arjuna, a party hopper. “He was first in DMK, then moved to VCK, where he created some problems and left. He then attempted to join AIADMK. Ours is not a party which offers positions overnight, but only those delivering hard work will be recognised (in a veiled message that his bid to join the party was rejected,” he said.

Turning to Sengottaiyan joining TVK, Munusamy said the veteran spent 53 years in AIADMK and enjoyed the benefits of office before switching to Vijay's party. “Isn't it shameful to call Vijay a revolutionary commander after MGR. Vijay should be cautious as such leaders may also abandon him and join another party,” he said.
