“Disregarding the diversity of our country, the attempts of the BJP to impose Hindi and Sanskrit on the people of different nationalities, who have a distinct language and culture, is strongly condemned,” said the resolution adopted at the Protection of Mother Tongue and Anti-Imposition of Hindi conference organised by the CPM here.
CPM state secretary K Balakrishnan, politburo member G Ramakrishnan, Kerala’s LDF convener A Vijayaraghavan and party’s state secretaries of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana addressed at the conference.
While reiterating the position that there is no bar on anyone to learn any language at their will, the conference condemns the imposition of Hindi on the people of all the states in many forms, including the current draft education policy. “Equally we condemn their attempt to impose Sanskrit on everybody,” it said, adding that this conference demands of the Union government that they should ensure giving equal opportunity and allot funds for the development of all the Indian languages.
The conference said that it should be ensured that the respective state language of the state should be used in the Central public undertakings and all offices of that state. “All the competitive examinations being conducted by the Central government should be held in all the languages found place in the eight schedule,” it said.
The resolution also wanted equality of all languages be recognised in the Parliament and MPs should have right to speak in their own language of the state. “It should be ensured that all the central acts, government orders and resolutions are available in all the national languages,” it said.
