There have been discussions earlier with the students on the issues and now academicians, doctors and people from other relevant sectors are being made a part of the discussions on the Child Policy to ensure that no issues are left out and the draft offer a comprehensive approach.

“We are talking to the government officials from Social Welfare Department and discussions are being held with people from private sector as well to ensure that we incorporate the suitable recommendations on the issues for the children. The draft will have categorization based on the age to address issues more specifically as per the age group. The commission might have another session of discussions with children to consider issues that are relevant to them and need to be highlighted,” said Sheela Jeyanthi, member of Tamil Nadu State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. She added that the draft of the Child Policy is most likely to be completed by February and will be presented for further consideration to the government officials. The members of Tamil Nadu SCPCR said that the commission aims at implementing the policy by June this year.
