CHENNAI: The State government on Thursday effected a major bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's then principal secretary S Vijayakumar as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Industries, Investment Promotion and Commerce Department.
The government also transferred V Arun Roy and posted him as Secretary to the Higher Education Department,
Senior IAS officer Arun Thamburaj has been posted as Director of Information and Public Relations (I&PR). Arun Thamburaj, who had been serving as Salem Collector, has been transferred and appointed Director of Information and Public Relations and ex officio Additional Secretary to Government in the Tamil Development and Information Department, replacing R Vaithinathan.
An officer known for his administrative handling in Salem and earlier in the Health Department, Arun Thamburaj will now head the government’s public communication apparatus.
In another key postingwhile N Subbaiyan has been appointed Secretary to the Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.
Senior IAS officer R Jaya has been posted as Chief Resident Commissioner at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi. MS Shanmugam has been appointed Commissioner of Tourism and will also hold an additional charge as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC).
R Brindha Devi has been posted as Director of Art and Culture, while P Umanath has been appointed Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC).
Among the district-level changes, K Elambahavath has been appointed Salem Collector.
